VIKING KNIT CLASS - RAN

Elsbeth Lavold has created several designs using motifs that she found in various Viking ruins. They are not only ageless, but add an air of sophistication to even the most simple of sweaters. This class will focus on her design called "Ran," for a hip length sweater. It combines not only a beautiful border at the bottom of the garment and sleeves, but also a medallion in the center front. Knit it in Silky Wool for an authentic feel as well as a lightness and warmth.

When: Saturday, Feb. 26th, 9:30 am - 11:30 am and
Saturday, March, 26th, 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Please come and have a look at the gorgeous sweater in the shop. It will be on display from February 8 -15 in the shop!

GREAT AMERICAN ARAN AFGHAN

Back by popular demand is the Great American Aran Afghan. When completed you will be a “master” at cabling, bobbling, and chart reading. Cascade 220 yarn (worsted weight) is recommended, but you are invited to use a similar yarn of your preference. Depending on your finished size the completed afghan could use upwards to 22 skeins of yarn.

For those that are adventurous, or want a break from the squares offered in the Great American Aran Afghan book, the Great American Afghan book offers an alternative. (Both books are available at the shop.) The squares in GAA book complement those offered in the GAAA. We can either start from the beginning and everyone work on the same square or we can individually choose the order of the squares to be knitted. The goal should be to complete one square every two weeks.

When: Please call to sign up and the group will determine dates.

New Yarns, Newsletter, New Projects

Inventory is over and we have been busy opening boxes that have been sitting on the floor of the shop. Boxes of yarns that have patiently waited their turn to be received and displayed on the shelves. The shelves received a makeover too and the yarn has been rearranged by size and stitches per inch. We hope this will make it easier for you to find the right yarn for your project.

We apologize for the delay of the January Newsletter. It is now being written and should be out within the next week. This issue will be the January/February issue and will have a listing of classes for both months. Included in the class list will be a mitten class using a pattern that is in the new Knitty.com winter issue.
The Shelburne Mittens are very easy and simple. The perfect project for a beginner mitten knitter.
The yarn used is Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Chunky.  Only one skein is needed to make the woman's mittens pictured below.

NEW CUSTOMER PROJECTS

This beautiful Penquin Afghan was designed and knitted by Margaret for her grandson. The yarn she used is Berroco Vintage. We have watched Margaret work on this project and all of us were excited to see it completed.
